Kunafa stuffed baklava; mouthwatering phyllo fingers.
Baklava is a popular Middle Eastern dessert. It is made from phyllo dough which can be stuffed with nuts, cream, kunafa or basbousa. Baklava is one of the most delicious dessert whatever it is stuffed with nuts or cream or kunafa. It leaves you always desiring in more.
At this blog, I am showing you how to make kunafa stuffed baklava. the kunafa-baklava mixture is really amazing. Let's do it;
Ingredients:
400 gm phyllo dough.
125 gm kunafa or shredded phyllo dough.
½ cup melted ghee or butter.
For syrup:
1 ¼ cup water.
1 ¼ cup sugar.
1 small lemon juice or vanilla.
1 tablespoon honey.
Preparation:
For syrup:
In a deep pan, add water, sugar, lemon juice and stir with a spoon.
Put the pan over medium high heat and stir for 5 min, then test the syrup by placing a drop on the table. The drop should hold itself and don’t spread.
Add honey and stir.
For baklava:
Put Kunafa in freezer for 2 hr. then crush it into small pieces by your hand or put it in the food processor.
Mix Kunafa with 2 tablespoon melted ghee or butter with your fingers to make sure that all Kunafa are saturated with butter.
In a deep pan, add Kunafa over low medium heat and stir for 15 min until it is gold in color. Look at the photo.
Pour ¼ cup of syrup over Kunafa.
Take 2 sheets of phyllo dough then spread butter over the surface with brush or spoon.
Place Kunafa over phyllo dough like photo below.
Roll the phyllo dough over Kunafa firmly and put the roll in a nonstick oven pan.
Repeat the step until you finish all phyllo dough sheets then divide them with a knife.
Spread melted ghee or butter over rolls.
Preheat oven over 240°c.
Place the pan in the oven for 15 min then open the grill for another 5 min or until the surface is gold.
Pour the syrup over baklava then let it absorb the syrup and serve it.
